Robert Cooke was Clarenceux King of Arms. From the description of Pedigrees of the nobility [manuscript], ca. 1575? (Folger Shakespeare Library). WorldCat record id: 630130694 Robert Dudley, the celebrated favorite of Elizabeth I. In 1564 the Queen created him the Earl of Leicester and proposed as a husband to Mary Queen of Scots.
